Jay N. Silberblatt Portrait

Jay N. Silberblatt is a 1977 cum laude graduate of Allegheny College where he received Departmental Honors in American Studies. He earned his law degree at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 1980 where he served as a Senior Writer on the Law Review.

Jay recently concluded service as the 128th President of the Pennsylvania Bar Association.  He has served as Chair of the Pennsylvania Bar Association Civil Litigation Section and as Chair of the Civil Litigation Section of the Allegheny County Bar Association. He is a member of House of Delegates of both the Pennsylvania Bar Association and the American Bar Association, and he is the Immediate Past-Chair of the PBA Professional Liability Committee.  Jay is a Fellow of the Academy of Trial Lawyers of Allegheny County, a select group of the top trial lawyers in Allegheny County, where he has been active on its Professionalism Committee and has served as Chair of its Electronics for the Litigator Committee and its Website Committee.

A third generation Pennsylvania lawyer, Jay has lectured on a variety of topics throughout the state and has authored numerous articles for legal periodicals. Jay routinely employs the latest methods in his case preparation techniques, always placing himself on the “cutting edge” of legal technology.

In addition, Jay’s legal career has been distinguished by his certification as a Civil Trial Advocate and a Civil Pretrial Practice Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy, a credential enjoyed by only a handful of lawyers in Western Pennsylvania.

Throughout his many years of practice, Jay’s clients have relied upon him for specialized legal advice and his ability to communicate the complex aspects of the law in understandable language.
